Nancy Carol Ramsey grew up surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. After high school she studied in California and finally called Georgia her home. She’s seen first-hand how humans have exploited the environment and knows we need to do what we can now to save it. For her, EDF was the answer as she sees EDF “doing the most in the most different ways.”
A career librarian, Nancy Carol values the academic approach EDF takes to problem solving. As a woman of modest means and grand passion, Nancy Carol could do more giving through a charitable gift annuity—a gift that pays you income—than if she’d just made an outright gift, so she has created a few. As she puts it, “The lifetime income matters, and I feel good knowing that I don’t have to worry about whether EDF will get my gifts when it’s time to settle my estate.”
Recently, during a front porch discussion with her niece from California, she discovered they independently found EDF and are supportive of EDF’s work.
“It’s a small world, and we’ve gotta protect it,” she said.
